What’s It About?

As part of New York’s elite and heiress to the glamorous Gregory Hotels, Nina’s father taught her that anything she does could become tomorrow’s headline. Keenly aware of this at every moment, she’s always strived to be a picture of perfection.

Now, Nina is pursuing her “in-between” career as a speechwriter until the day she must take over the family business. She’s dating Tim, her childhood friend, who along with his parents are the only “family” she has left aside from her father.

But when Nina’s father passes, secrets surface shedding new light on the past causing her to question who she is and the future destined for. As she struggles to understand herself and where she’s going, Nina finds herself torn between the man her father approved of and the charismatic mayoral candidate that makes her feel what she never has before: accepted as herself.

Will Nina walk the path her father so carefully laid out for her, or will she write her own future and follow her heart?

My Thoughts

First, I love this cover and it speaks of the book’s essence.

This is a character driven story written in the third person. With brief chapters and great dialogue (especially between Nina and Rafael), it’s a fast read. I appreciate that there aren’t any “bad” characters, it’s more about life’s complications and how they affect the characters.

Who Is This Book For

Anyone who likes emotional stories set among the uber-doober rich and a female who’s torn between two men.

Characters Age

The lead, Nina, is in her thirties. The two males are Tim, who is also in his thirties, and Rafael whose age isn’t discussed, but I’d guess he’s in his forties.
